Yesterday, I left my phone in the restroom at work and it was gone when I returned looking for it. An hour later, Scott was butt-dialed by whomever had my phone and the call lasted for 16 minutes of background noise. My Brother From Another Mother, Alan, also got butt-dialed because his name is at the top of my contacts list. An hour after that, I finally got home and reported it stolen and my insurance sent me a new one to arrive the next morning. I was severely grumpy the rest of the day. There are pictures on my phone I can't replac and I had no way of getting them back.
Today at work, I recieved a phone call from a Verizon store way out in WTFville saying "Your phone was turned in by some guy!" My mood shot up from grumbly grumpy-grump to YAYYYYYYYY!!!!
I went to the Verizon store after work, got my phone...and the first thing I saw when I turned it on was a picture I took of Scott's sister, Heather. The guy who had my phone must have thought she was hot or something because he had looked through her image folder.
The second thing I saw when I backed up into the image menu was a blurry picture...of a man's foot.
Verizon Guy and I erupted into giggles.
Verizon Guy also said that the texts Ben sent (much to my delight) to the effect of "turn the phone in or we'll be forced to track you down using the phone's GPS" is probably what got the person to turn it in instead of pawning it. The average opportunist thief isn't so smart.
And then we went back to giggling at the foot.
