Chips in our bodies?

I just got here a couple days ago. I think I'm missing something big.

There are chips implanted in our bodies by, I'd assume, those 'kind' folks who brought us here. The extents of whatthey do are unknown, but at the least they prevent us from accessing magic, chakra. abilities, etc.

It's like a stopper on special powers. Good thing I don't have any of those. It doesn't do any other harm, right? Or that we know of.

Are the chips anything like... Well, only because it sounds like it, a tracking device? The same how they do to dogs and cats. They can put little chips inside the animal and have their ID on them when they scan.

It's very likely. We're here for some sort of reason, after all... I'd imagine our captors are keeping track of us somehow.
