My dreams walked a fine line last night.
The one I can recall with the most clarity placed me in a large house/plant nursery, run by Dr. F and her family. She'd asked me to come out and work for her, and for some reason I'd brought friends and others I thought could help get the job done. Among them was Kate, Benji, and Davin. There were more faces but I do not remember them. Anyway, Dr. F outlined her plans and sent us off to work. I did not go straight to hauling things, instead I was reading all these packages of soil, trying to figure out what should go where...Benji, who had been hauling things, saw me doing that and asked when I was going to get off my ass and start working like the rest of them. I remember being hurt and furious...but choosing not to yell as I explained. He left his wheelbarrow and walked away. I continued to read packages, and when I looked up everyone was gone.
I began to move stuff, repot little plants, arrange things into a new greenhouse. I looked up at one point and Davin was there holding a baby chicken in his hand that was obviously not well. He told me he knew what was wrong with it, and he could fix it, he just didn't have the things he needed...Why I had them, I do not know, but I did. I set the chick up in a warm box with a light over it for Davin to use to house it while it was being cured. One of Dr. F's daughters came down to watch.
It was at this point I heard shrieking laughter and splashing. I cut through the house, curious as to the source, and peeked out window to see Dr. F, her family, and my friends all playing in a pool together. I was hit with a mingling of hurt and frustration. I was supposed to be working, right? Part of me selfishly wished they had invited me, too. But, they didn't. I turned away from the window with a pang, and returned to the greenhouse and it's comforting monotony...
My second dream was more surreal.
I was in Thailand. Visiting. The streets were more barren than I'd remembered, and the buildings even taller. Everything was enveloped in shades of sepia and dusty brown...like an old photograph. I was staying in one of these very tall buildings, and I distinctly remember stepping into an elevator to reach my floor...only to find out it did not get that high. The rest of my dream was lost in a maze of corridors and hallways that seemed to throw every obstacle in my way to prevent me from reaching my room. At one point, the floor itself melted into a Klong and I had to pull myself onto a boat and paddle with my hands...
