i picked out my wedding dress!

and oh noes!! i manage to pick a dress that is of course, from an unadvertised line by the designer, and alas, after 2 days of searching on the internets, i can find every damn style # from that line BUT mine :)

for those that are interested, it's a Pronovias, White One/W1 Line, style #930: dropped v-neck/portrait neckline, gathered/ruching to the side at the waist, beaded lace flowers along the gathers of the fabric at the front, a-line skirt, plain back with buttons from the top of the back all the way to the bottom of the cathedral train (LOVE the buttons!); fabric is crushed taffeta, in ivory.

i'll be wearing a cathedral length veil with elbow length blusher, in ivory, with pencil edge and scattered rhinestones. i know i want gloves, but i'm still playing around with lengths & fabrics.

saturday i went out to 2 shops with my mom and rachel (larry's sister): Kay Bridal in Cherry Hill, and Yours Forever Bridal in Voorhees. at Kay, i tried on about 6 gowns, and they were all, meh. at Yours Forever, i must have tried on a dozen before i got to the last one- a Pronovias. it was... breathtaking. it was so different, so unique. i kept it on for like, 20 minutes.

sunday i went to Aimee Michelle Bridal in cherry hill with my mom, larry's mom lynn, and rachel. i tried on a few, and then i fell in love with another gown (a Maggie Sottero).

i loved both. there's only a $125 price difference (the higher is Pronovias) b/t the two, and i looked fantastic in both. the fabric of the Pronovias is so unusual- it's a crushed taffeta- reminiscent of swooshy pants- and I love that. The lace on the Maggie is very coy, and the netting v-neck straps were really pretty on me. The side-ruching on both dresses is very flattering. i was very caught up in the uniqueness of the Pronovias, and even more caught up in the haute-couture status of the label. i've never owned ANYTHING this high end before, and i feel like Maggies are everywhere (don't get me wrong- i love them!)... there's just so much going on that sets the Pronovias apart.

i couldn't remember the Pronovias in my mind very well (shop wouldn't allow pics), and then after going sunday and seeing the Maggie on me, i decided to go back monday w/lynn and rachel (my mom had to work) and lynn said it was no contest- hands down, the Pronovias was my dress. the bridal shop owner came out and put on a cathedral veil with a blusher- the tulle matched colors with the dress and covered in scattered rhinestones here and there. and since the back of the dress is relatively plain (just buttons), the veil looks amazing with just the little bits of light catching on the rhinestones. when she put on opera length gloves, i was totally convinced. it is THE DRESS!

i didn't have a total AHAH OMG moment, but let me tell you, i thought about that dress all day sat AND sun, and even DREAMED about it sat night. when i saw it on me for a second time i was like, "oh hell yes."

my mom is picking up the tab for the dress, so i'm coming back up to NJ in two weeks to make the deposit. the dress can take up to EIGHT months to come in (unless its in stock, then it's like, a month) so i won't have it in hand until possibly JUNE 2007! ack! but it's worth the wait- the wedding REALLY feels real now- it's been hard since it's not until january 2008, and even though i have to wait for the dress, i still have it picked out. the two biggest things- reception/ceremony venue and dress are all done.

whoohoo! *happy dance*
