At work they announced today that one of the several hundred people in the building had a confirmed case of swine flu. They said that she hadn't been in the office since Tuesday and to take normal flu season precautions.
I am a hypochondriac and I'm surprised that I'm not really freaking out about this. All the stuff I've heard on NPR indicates that while the H1N1 strain is killing people, its doing so at a much lower rate than the regular seasonal flu. My reaction was basically "hmm...better remind myself to keep my fingers out of my mouth" since I chew on them constantly and to plan on eating more immune-system-boosting foods over the next few weeks since my honeymoon hotel reservations are non-refundable. I cannot afford to be sick, I have a wedding and a vacation to attend to.
