writing, pets, and writing again

I have been slacking on the posts again, obviously. The good news is, I finished the revision. Well, I finished the revising part of the revision. I still have to type the corrections I made on hard copy into the final document, and write the synopsis.

Since I dread typing, I decided to do the synopsis first. That is to say I convinced myself that a synopsis should "cool" between drafts just like an MS. Ack. Not as easy as I thought. I've done about six so far, all of them at least an 8 on the suckitude scale.

The two main problems I'm wrestling with are, one, I have some unlikely events taking place and it's hard to make them sound even remotely credible when I've ripped them from the flesh of the story. And two, I'm not sure how much explaining is a reasonable amount. I guess I'll have to use how much I have to use, but this really gives the doubt-weasel energy food.

In non-writing news, I have a dishwasher! It's not installed yet. That's supposed to happen Saturday. I can hardly wait! I'm so worried something will go wrong.

Cobie and Kelly are good. Well. They're not all that good, but they are well. Cobie's ecstatic over the snow coating we got the other day. Most of it is melted already, but they are predicting two more inches over the weekend, so his husky butt should be happy. Kelly's more ambiguous about this whole snow thing and wouldn't go out until I went out with her and proved it wasn't acid or anything, but after that she seemed to have fun leaping into the air and snapping at the falling flakes.

Dmitri's having a fine time too. After he laid around most of the summer I was kind of worried and thought maybe he was older than I thought when I got him. But since it cooled off, he's been running on his wheel again. He doesn't run with the same mad abandon as when he was new, but he runs. The first time Mr Moth heard him he was like, "What's that noise?" and I had to stop and think, what is that noise? Then it came to me, oh yay, Dmitri's making a comeback! Maybe Siberian rodents don't like summer.

Back to writing news: Because I keep going back and forth from this entry to the synopsis, I now have a synopsis. Sort of. Four pages and just over 2100 words. I'm sure that's a problem. Or something is. There has to be a problem, right??
