+ This episode gave me a lot of feelings: some of them good, some of them heart wrenching, and some of them extremely full of rage. I want to warn people before reading this that if you’re a squeeful person who does not want their squee harshed, please don’t click the cut. This review is full of meta and is kind of epic in length, I apologize in ( Read more... )

I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. I was so emotionally exhausted after writing it that I physically felt tired. MY FEELINGS, THEY EXPLODED ALL OVER THIS. And I keep finding things I missed that I wanted to talk about.

You know, I actually agree with you about Jeremy, he probably is full of resignation about his life at this point, but I think my worry that if the reaction is not immediate, it'll never happen and this is just an easy way for the writers to get out of writing emotional repercussions again.

Yes, THAT. Exactly what you've said here. Any piece of fiction should be driven by the main characters and their actions and the consequences of their actions, their problems and their life, but here it's like things happen to the characters and they keep happening and no one has any time to react, or even talk to each other. I honestly don't get it. Especially when they used to be able to handle that (before they decided to be ~bigger and badder~). I think the writers like to say that everyone dies (because that's what they keep saying in interviews: no one is safe) and, yes, a lot of people have died, but the females who died who were developed and the audience grew attached to greatly, greatly out-number the men and some are created simply to die to cause a man pain (i.e. Rose), whereas there is no counter-example of a man fulfilling that role. And honestly, I could live with it up until this point because the gender equality of the cast remained somewhat balanced and for a horror/supernatural show, that's actually reasonably decent, but so much rage was felt over this episode simply because of the gender issues at play.

I love your thoughts about Matt. I think what's upsetting in that regard is that a lot of what must be guiding his decision at this point is that, yes, he's lived without his childhood friends for this long, but that wasn't by choice. They deliberately kept him in the dark and ignored him. I still can't get over how that must have felt to him and the show never actually dealt with the fact that it wasn't just Caroline keeping secrets, it was everybody. And since they killed Jenna before they could even deal with the repercussions of that, I really want them to at least deal with them with Matt (even though, as much as I love Matt, of course he gets to live and have his feelings dealt with).

All I have to say to this idea is: DO IT, PLEASE! I'll help if you need help with it because I honestly think it needs to exist because I want ALL OF THOSE FICS and more. I just want someone to fix the show for me and that feels to arrogant of me, but I honestly feel like fandom can do better than the show's writers at this point because they've dropped the ball so much this season. I DON'T KNOW WHY THIS FANDOM DOESN'T PRODUCE MORE FIC. This is something I will never understand. But please, please make that ficathon. It sounds so wonderful and exactly what fandom needs.
