VNV Nation at Coachella was damn near brilliant but I say this from a fangirl perspective so I could be wrong.
The set consisted of all the well known and beloved (haha) songs that many people knew the lyrics to (especially Beloved and Dark Angel). I was lucky enough to squeeze my way to the front of the baracade to rock out and then got the set list print out afterwards.
After the concert I spotted one of my club friends from LA amd meandered over to talk to him as the tent emptied out and everyone went home for the night. And who comes out not 5 minutes later but Ronan Harris himself! *squeal* Fangirl moment alert!
I ran over and said hi, though the short conversation mostly happened as follows:
Me: It's awesome seeing you again, after your performance at Bunker. Though I felt so bad that you had to play two sets that night." (Here I'm referring to them playing at an LA club where so many tickets were sold that they had to play two full sets which must have been exhausting!!)
Ronan: "It was no problem. Do you know why I did it?"
Me: "Because you love us!" (us = the fans)
Ronan: "Yes."
And then he had to leave because his transport was waiting. The horrible part was here I am with the playlist for the evening and Ronan in front of me and not a goddamn pen in sight. Oh the woe. Haha. Oh well. I've got the memories.
So I got to see my band (THE band that I bought a ticket to Coachella for, expensive though it was) and come away with a great memory. Who cares about the rest of Coachella. Haha. But actually I did get to check out a couple of other people: Lily Allen, Paul Van Dyke, The Teddybears (who actually wore bear masks while performing!!), and Rat-a-tat-tat. Out of all of them The Teddybears were the most interesting. I might see if I can find some of their music....
