Chocolat
I read Chocolat while eating a chocolate bar last night. Mmm. Both were rather good. It's interesting to note that the Chocolat movie was rather different from the book. Both had unique and interesting things to say and the same basic theme but the nuances were completely different (ie Anouk had a bunny rabbit instead of a lame kangaroo who couldn't hop, and Vianne's relationship with Roux, played by Johnny Depp, had a different ending).
All in all I must admit that I liked both equally well but I'm almost veering more towards the movie (which is rare!! Usually books are far better) but Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp together make Chocolat a lovely movie-going experience. And the back story about Vianne's mother was a nice touch which wasn't in the book. Same with her mother's ashes - also not in the book. I like this movie. I think I may need to go watch it again.
