I saw
This Movie yesterday at the
Parkway Theater.
It was an awesome zombie movie.
The theater is great too. The place offers real food and pitchers of beer which you
can order and enjoy while watching the show.
And matinees are only $4!! Amazing deal!
The bus ride over was tedious and depressing though.
Driving down MLK jr. Way in Oakland is a firm reminder that
race and poverty are still strongly linked together and that
society has a nice way of pushing these issues to the outskirts of the city.
That was one reason why I left Santa Cruz. I couldn't get over how much a liberal
town was in denial over its innate racism (and partial segregation).
Oakland may not be as safe, but at least it's diverse and there is no denying the fact.
To say the least, I've seen some pretty interesting things go down since I've been here . . . .
