SPOILER ALERT
The best word I can think of to describe Conan is brutal. I'm surprised it's only a 15 to be honest.
Okay so there's not entrails flying but there are guys getting their heads dashed in on concrete floors or with stones and noses being cut off and in this time of economic hardship they were certainly keeping the fake blood industry afloat. None of this really bothers me, after all I have Finger Vision which came in very handy, and what do you really expect when you're watching a film about Barbarians.
The first half of the film I have to left me cold, in places the script seemed hackneyed, the support acting ropey and the direction clumsy. However the second half felt like it was almost a different film directed by a different person and that's when I really got caught up in the tale.
Rose McGowen was disturbing and Jason Mamoa had a physically charismatic dominance that sold the brutality of the barbarian while allowing the audience to still champion his adventure.
I did have a little geek-out at the beginning when they mentioned the city of Atlantis sinking into the sea.
For a film of it's genre, it's good. Definitely not the worse I've seen.
