Time to Freak Out.

So my doctor and I were planning for me to return to work next week.

I had discussed this with my boss about 4 weeks ago, we talked about a phased return to work, how I could get pay for the first 2 months then if I needed more time to be able to increase my hours that would be OK but they would only be able to pay me for the hours I work, which I said was perfectly understandable.

So after discussion with my doctor told them I needed to start very slow, two days a week for 1 to 2 hours for the first 2/3 weeks then gradually increasing and after 2/3 months review.

Today I received an email from my boss to say that because I've been away for nearly a year I need to be retrained and for them to do that I need to do at least 14 hours a week and I need to be able to do full time hours by August.

He also pointed out that my phased return to work last year didn't work out. Well that's because I was a lot worse this time last year.

They're referring me to Occupational Health so they can get advice on how to proceed but the advice is only a 'recommendation' they don't have to do it.

I've written him an email, because I'm more articulate in writing than in conversation, pointing out the unreasonable requests they're making and also sent him information on pacing and how it works.

I'm really scared they're going to sack me because I can't physically do what is required of me, I really don't know what to do.
