Yay! LJ's Being Cooperative Again!

Huzzah! *ahem* Sorry, still in pirate mode. And may I speak on the hauntingly beautiful song that is now permanently stuck in my head? I doubt it's much of a spoiler for Pirates 3. That is, unless you're very good with metaphors...

The king and his men
Stole the queen from her bed
And bound her in her bones.
The seas be ours
And by the powers
Where we will, we'll roam.

Yo-ho, haul together
Hoist the colours high
Heave-ho, thieves and beggars
Never shall we die.

Some men have died
And some are alive
And others sail on the sea.
With the keys to the cage
And the devil to pay
We lay to the Fiddler's Green.

The bell has been raised
From its watery grave
Do you hear its sepulchral tone?
We are a call to all
Pay heed the squall
And turn your sail toward home

Yo-ho, haul together
Hoist the colours high
Heave-ho, thieves and beggars
Never shall we die

I love it! Apparently Gore (Verbinski - director) wrote the lyrics. And I can't stop singing it to myself like a madwoman. I am a madwoman, though, so all's fair. Would say in love and war, but really that's only circumstancial, isn't it?

Alright, so I'm now too...un-serious to actually give a technical review per se. But I can squee myself into oblivion. See? Watch me! This is probably for those who have already seen it, because I'm not bothering to explain anything for those who haven't.

The ship of a thousand Jacks. On a nonserious note, can I please say that one of numerous fantasies has been carried out. On a serious note, many say it was going a bit far with the hallucinations. I disagree. I found it very highly entertaining. Jack was already mad, the only way to show him as more mad is to prove it. But back to the nonserious...how much fun am I going to have with those scenes once it's all downloadable. *snickers* Oh the vidding possiblities!

The ending was lame. That's all I have to say. It went full circle from the first one...so utterly predictable that it was unpredictable. Eh. Oh well. It's unconclusive and vague in some ways that it leaves sooo much room for speculation, it's not even funny. Which I love. Who doesn't adore it when your imagination gets to play around mercilessly with little boundaries. Oooh, the possiblities. *bouncebouncebounce*

I was rather irked that it rather disregarded a good portion of what was emphasized repeatedly in Dead Man's Chest, but frankly there's only so much one can fit into one movie...and it was already running on three hours. Could've included ten more minutes of character interaction and it would've been an even 180 minutes...But! More space for me to fill in. Yay. Fanfiction and roleplay plots abound.

Anyone else notice the uncanny resemblances between Davy Jones and Jack Sparrow in manner/attitude/wit, etc. In some scenes anyway. Jones isn't quite as...flamboyant and seemingly insane as Jack, but he does have much of the same air about him. It's quite interesting. He has little to nothing in common with Will. Makes you wonder...

Much like it also makes you wonder what really happened to Davy Jones. He did seemingly fall to his doom after his heart was stabbed, but really...I had the uncanny feeling it wasn't really his end. I mean...he practically regarded the eye of the storm as Calypso. He falls directly into the storm itself...fishy. And no, not just Jones himself.

Another amusing thing: Elizabeth is jinxed! Hehe, I don't know why I find that so funny, but it's true! She kisses Jack in DMC and he's eaten by a giant squid. She rather unwillingly kisses Sao Feng and he ends up dead. Kisses Norrington just before he dies. Will ends up dead shortly after marrying her, but then ends up...undead. It's really rather funny. She's got the inverted Midas touch, in a way. No wonder she was mistaken for Calypso.

And if you stuck around after the credits, it implied that Elizabeth had a son from that time on the island before he went off in the end. But really...I have one thing to say. If he's undead...is he even capable of impregnating her? I mean, I supppose it's implied that yes, he is. But really, for consideration - he doesn't have a heart. He's dead. He's only operating off of mystical means. Which means the normal physical way of his body isn't going about. Which means that what seed he has is probably pretty...dead, too. As in similar to the way it would work for a vampire, I suppose. I'd imagine so anyway. I mean...is this making sense to anyone else?

Being not much of a Will fan at all, and prefering Elizabeth with Jack in the long run anyway, I'd be nit-picky of the details. But still. Oi. It's rather far-fetched, don't you think. Eh, oh well. I know one thing for sure though...I seriously doubt Elizabeth would stick around on that island for ten years. Some people seem to be under that impression. I say one thing: HA! You spend all movie seeing her turn into a pirate, only to go full circle back to the beginning when she's stuck on land. HA! No. She got to the island in a rowboat, she'll leave on a rowboat. She'll be back in ten years. What she does in between is entirely up for grabs.

Alright, for now I'm done. I'll...be more technical review-y when I feel the need.
