Basically the original poster is annoyed that NFCU doesn't update their online banking fast enough and they end up over-drafting because they go by that and not their own personal record.
Actually no, the bank isnt responsible for my budget. I set my own budget. Wrong word choice there.
I dont care how fast navy federal updates their online banking either. That wasnt the issue.
Yes I overdrafted my account. Why? Because navy federal does things differently with their online banking. Something I wasnt used to before switching to them They post a charge immediately. If within 24 hours the "vendor" doesnt "bill/charge" the bank, navy federal completely takes it off your account and you cant even see that transaction anymore. Then when the vendor does finally charge them, it pops back up online. When you make multiple purchases at the commissary and exchange its hard to notice when one out of the 5 from the previous week go missing. Anything that overdrafted was from a place that i go to often. So, it was easily overlooked.
I'm not fucking asking for a money tree. I'm not stupid when it comes to online banking, but this was something they do that I didnt know when i got an account with them.
I just switched to navy federal less than a month ago. I've never had this problem with my bank before this. Never. I also never wrote down every single purchase. I'm not an idiot when it comes to money, ive been managing mine for years now. But never have i had to write down my purchases. Maybe it was just my way of doing things but i was fine.
Now i know though how navy federal works, and yes i will keep track of it. I just wasn't aware of how they do their online banking.
if you actually *knew* how to do online banking, then you would know that even if a charge isn't showing on the online account, and you made it, it's still gonna come out of your account. and that you will still be held responsible for it.
and if you knew how to do a real budget and real banking - then you'd not only know that, you wouldn't loose one of any number of multiple purchases.

that's the biggest pity party EVER.
