Josh Homme is not coming to Melbourne : (
He and Brody were here 2 weeks ago coz her dad died and apparently now is "too soon" to come back. Shattered!! When you pin too much on something it always falls in a heap. oh well, i'm pretty sure Queens are touring this year anyway so all hope is not lost...

i was pretty upset to hear about all the shite that has happened to the skateboarding community this week. last week i heard that there had been a motorbike accident and a guy had crashed into the tramways pub 2 blocks from my house died - i thought it was really sad but didn't think anything more of it. i was away all weekend and totally out of the loop, so i came back yesterday and found out that one of the dudes is this 20 year old kid Shane Cross who tried to pick me up at the globe world cup afterparty 2 years ago and the other is a dude who i know called Ali, a really nice guy who is now in hospital in a coma! what the fuck?! for a while there people were saying he was dead and there has been stuff all over the skating messageboards saying "fuck you ali" and stuff like that because he was the one driving the motorbike and Shane was on the back and therefore Ali was responsible for the accident. to me that is fucking bullshit because from what i know there was a whole group of people egging them on and i'm sure everyone including poor Shane was well aware that it was dangerous, especially because they weren't wearing helmets. the fact is that if they had both survived unscathed people probably would have told stories about how funny it was or how "crazy" those two guys are, but because someone died, now they are saying all this nasty shit.
Obviously skating is a risky sport and to have gotten so far in it you would have to be pretty fearless, but some of these kids need to learn that they aren't invincible and not to risk their lives getting drunk and doing stupid stuff like that. Anyway, enough with the nastiness and hang in there Ali. RIP Shane. it's such a shame for someone to die so young.
as well as that:
Ben Pappas was found in the Yarra river a couple of days ago. It was all pretty weird as it was just after his girlfriend's body turned up in a creek in Northcote and it sounds like he was the main suspect in her murder. he used to be the world number 2 vert skater before he got hooked on drugs. I'm pretty sure i met him a couple of times through my ex-boyfriend. but anyway, it's all weird and very sad.
