REAL GOALS FOR 2008

Dec 31, 2007 14:25

OK, my REAL goals for 2008:

Take four courses at the University this spring
The Antique and the Medieval periods are two different courses, and they're compulsory. I'll also follow a course in "Norwegian paintings 1870-1920", just because I want the points. Well, it's interesting enough, and quite necessairy if I want to work with something art related in Norway later in life. And I'll hopefully be able to take "Mediterrainean archeology", which is said to be very similar to the Antique course. 10 points each = 40 points. Which means I'll only have 10 points left to take before I get my Bachelor in Art history.

Learn Greek
it provokes me that a language can be so different and yet being so familiar. I need to understand it, period. One way is to follow a summer course at the Norwegian Institute in Athen. I've filled out the application form, but I need to learn more about the specifics (where to stay, how much it costs etc).

Take one course in Rome this autumn
All the fun courses the University of Oslo offers (i.e. Renaissance and Baroque art) are held in Rome. This is a good thing per se, but it's not fun when there's stuff I have to follow in Oslo. I can't both be in Rome and in Oslo, which means no Renaissance courses for me. But I'm planning to follow a Manierism course held in Rome this autumn. Must check further with finances and where to stay here too. Would be awesome, though.

Find someone to love who loves me in return(and which isn't married)
No comment.....

Continue my "Do stuff I haven't done before" project
it's been quite fun! There's so much I've never done and which I've never seen any reasons of trying out. But why not? It's what broadens my horizon, challenges my routines and makes everyday life more fun. It needen't be big projects - it's things like ice skating, seeing a hockey game, talk to strangers in specific settings..... I have yet to go to a horse race, and me and another (the one who made the amazing Xmas card) is planning to do that in january sometime.

Finish three already started costume projects
The Aminta costume, the POTO wedding dress and the Venetian courtesan

Make a new Renaissance garb
I really need one, don't I? Ha-ha. But I miss a good ol' Renaissance project, and there's so many tempting portraits out there

Finish up some of the essays and translation ideas I've had in 2007
The essays are both about art and everyday problems (think Seinfeld), and the translations are mostly songs of which there aren't good Norwegian (or ANY Norwegian) versions of.

Travel more
2007 wasn't too heavy on the travel side - except I got to stay a month in Greece (which was awesome!). I need to visit some of the cities I love Copenhagen, London, venezia) or some new places. I'd also love to return to Lesvos, maybe during Easter. And I want to visit friends who loes abroad. I want to see POTO again. I want to learn new languages, taste new food, see new places. I NEED it.

siggesot wrote something really inspirative about following one's dreams. What is stopping me from doing the things I long to do? Courage? Money? Talent? Life IS short. I want to make more out of it. My life is good, don't misunderstand, but I don't want to look back and think of all the stuff I didn't dare doing.

Happy new year to all of you!
