DURÁN NEWSLETTERS

If you haven't already, do sign up for Laila Durán/Durán Textile's newsletters. They keep bringing me goodies, both in form of period fabrics they reconstruct after existing samples, and also recreated period attires. Usually they deal with the 18th century, but this time they've dealt with a late 14th (or possibly early 15th) century dress - namely that of Queen Margrethe I (Margareta I) (1353-1412).

I somehow didn't expect the dress to be as narrow at the waist as the reproduction (they have to sew it directly on the model), but the fabric is insanely pretty. Pretty! It also contains interesting info about the dress which at least I didn't know - that it was probably made and worn late in her life, and thus not served as wedding or coronation dress as previously suggested.
