FRIDAY 23. jan 2004 - I'M GOING TO LONDON

Jan 23, 2004 17:38

I stumbled across a hilariously cheap offer - a trip to London for $150... Of course, I had to accept. Which means I'm going to London on monday. I have two things on my must-do list: 1. See Phantom of the Opera. Of course. 2. Visit the Victoria and Albert museum. Their collection of gowns and stuff are incredible, from what I've seen online. *dreamy eyes* Also meeting Josefine, a wonderful costume maker.

A Phantom trip makes me work frenetically on my Phantom costumes. Today, the lucky winner was the Hannibal slavegirl, which I've had plans of making for a long time. The bodice is soon to be finished - I've cut the 8 parts in both cotton (lining) and red + green velvet (outer layer). I have also boned most of it. Next step will be to attach the parts, make a closure system in the back (or side - easier to wear...) and decorate it with golden edges. I will later make a rope skirt which is attachable, as well as a velvet panty to wear under the rope skirt.

This, together with the Dressing gown, seems to be the most copied Phantom costume (except for the Phantom's costumes....). Michaela de Bruce has made an amazing version. So has Jill from Reminiscense design. May I wish my version will be close to their replicas...
