A 29 year old retired from his dream. His body was breaking down too fast, and he had to put his health first. Reasonable, right? I mean, I know a lot of us are masochists who push ourselves beyond our physical limits, but the concept of stopping before we kill ourselves is reasonable.
He was booed. Booed by the people who he'd been breaking himself for. The big money owners are bribing him to try and get him to come back. Boo them.
Fuck everyone.
Could he have announced it maybe not two weeks before the start of the season? Maybe. He said he hadn't thought about it until two weeks ago. But maybe there was a test he was waiting for. I don't know what went through his mind. I haven't had the heart to watch any of his announcement.
People are tweeting about how his retiring because rehab was "too hard" was the most millennial thing ever.
Fuck everyone.
I'm aware I'm taking this more personally than I really need to. But this is what happens when I'm unsupervised. Lots of flailing about things that aren't really what I probably should be flailing about.
