A friend of mine is a street photographer in New York. He's not the guy who does the Humans series or anything, he's just a starving artist who lives with his husband in a walkup and they are trying to stay alive and afford their HIV medications and all that stuff. We met when he was hired by Skid to do some photos and because, and I quote, "Skid isn't as shitty as the rest of them" he took the job and we became friends.
When I see New York through his eyes, I can understand why people love it. It's still not comfortable for me. I still don't understand why people hail it so much and piss on LA like it's nothing when they're both cities full of artists and beauty. But when I see it through his lens, he makes it make more sense.
Still, lately he's taken to posting articles on his social media page, with the tagline "Corporate Cunt of a City" and if he's having issues, there may be no saving it.
