about words and the stupid things I do

I just managed to delete a year worth of notes/plot development for this fic I'm writing for a friend and it's irreversible because my laptop is stupid and ugh. Why do I even do this. It's about time I finished that thing and I'm not even halfway through -- what with taking very long breaks from it and not doing anything other than sketching scenes and plotting details before actually writing things down.

(This is an issue I'm always kind of struggling with when it comes to writing. Sometimes I find it very hard to put my ideas into words that go well together and sound like a story instead of an explanation. My thoughts are a little faster than my writing, so it all becomes a mess in my head.)

So now I'm kind of starting "from scratch". It technically isn't, because I still have some things fresh in my mind and others saved properly, but it does feel a little like starting from scratch since the most important things were deleted.

Also, I feel very lazy today. Yesterday was full of walking and I wore the wrong shoes and my feet are very sore. There were/are things to do today as well, but gladly I got to stay home and spend the breaks between chores/cooking/taking care of the dogs reading The Fault in Our Stars. I started it when I got home yesterday and finished it this afternoon. I can't manage to say a lot about it without spoiling it, so I'll just say that it is a brilliantly written book. There's something about John Green's books because they kind of just don't end where they're supposed to, or where you thought they would. He writes more and surprises the reader, gives the answers for any possible question that should come afterwards. I totally recommend him to anyone that wants a good contemporary YA author. :)
