A long walk on a cold night in a warm mood [Julian]

Jan 15, 2007 01:47

It wasn't something she should be doing, Heather knew that much. But she needed to get out and think. Things were changing and she just wasn't sure how to handle it all. Her foster parents had broached the subject of adoption. On the one hand she was flattered that they would want her for their daughter. On the other... they weren't her real ( Read more... )

He was somewhere else entirely. Somewhere not entirely good. He'd been there for a over a thousand heartbeats.

He jumps when his thoughts are disturbed by someone rapping on the window and looks up to see if-

"Heather?" He pushes the button to lower the window. "Hi."

She cants her head, bending down a little. "Oh, hi Julian.' She paused, frowning deeply.

"Are you all right? The car okay?" Because, isn't that the best assumption as to why he's just sitting on the side of the road alone.

"What? Oh, right, no, I'm okay, the car's fne, I was just... um, thinking I guess. I must've tuned out and lost track of everything."

He manages a nearly convincing smile. "How are you?"

Shifting, she squatted down so she could look at him through the window. It was chilly but she honestly didn't seem to mind. Given that her coat was bulky and down that might be why.

"I'm well. Just thinking about some things." She made a face at him. "You know, this just seems wrong." Standing up, she offered her hand. "Come on. Walk with me." She didn't ask, she merely told him.

"All right."

He closes the window, gets out of the car and pulls on a long coat, locking the car and tucking the key into his pocket.

And then offers Heather his arm like a proper gentleman.

That definitely touchs Heather as she slides her hand around his bicep.

"Seems we're both caught up in thoughts,' she murmured, heading for the park, gently guiding him. "Care to share?"

Julian gives her a warm smile. "Nothing spectacular, just indulging in teen angst for a while before I have to grow up." Because Julian can't burden others with his problems that easily.

He follows her guide easily, heading into the park itself. "You? Anything I can help with?"

She could hold it in or...

"My fosters are talking adoption. My parents haven't even been dead a year yet so... I'm terribly flattered but not sure I'm ready for new parents."

She seemed to straighten, feeling a little lighter for having shared it.

"So, a bit of teen angst myself as well.' She shifted, her arm tightening a bit around his arm. "Can you help with that?"

"Yeah, that'd be hard. Most people take at least a year to work through the grieving process. At least."

He hums while he thinks. "Maybe, though potentially not in any meaningful way." He steps away and in front of her with a cheeky grin and hold out his hand. "Dance?"

Yes, in the middle of the park, in the middle of the night.

Heather is nodding at his words before blinking, staring at his hand. "I... we...' she glanced around before flashing him a winsome smile.

"I would be honoured,' she giggled, giving him a curtsey before taking Julian's hand.

Julian leads Heather in waltz, occasionally twirling her around, lifting her by the waist over a particularly muddy spot and ending the entire thing by dipping her down and a grinning at her.

"Feel a little better?"

She was definitely no slouch when it came to dancing and yet he took her breath away. Maybe it was the time and place, the cold air and the knowledge that they were, in the end, practically strangers.

Smiling back, she nodded. "Much."

She didn't think, body arching as she kissed him suddenly.

The arm around her waist tightens at the unexpected kiss, but he's not in a mood to question it.

Her mouth is so soft and her skin so smooth. He pulls her closer, standing upright slowly and drawing her with him.

Her hands slid over his back, tightening her own hold as her head canted to one side. Moaning softly as she deepened the kiss.

Both were in bad places, mentally in turmoil and so, of course in her mind, the simplicity of physical need made sense.

For just a bit longer, he enjoys it. The soft curves that his arms are wrapped around, the long, long hair that he brushes his fingers through. The beautiful, wonderful way that her lips move.

Then, he draws back and away from her kiss. "Heather?"

She wonders how he feels beneath the coat, if all those long lines are muscles and sleek or merely thin. Is he as warm as his lips and... And he was pulling away.

Her smile was impish and not the least bit apologetic. "Yes, Julian?"
