once i had a dream about you
my eyelids had pulsed
with fleeting images of your face;
it was so sad and lonely.

when i woke up i was crying
and screaming for you to come back
but you didnt even hear me
and i was by myself again.

i knew it must have been a dream
so i closed my eyes and tried to sleep
but the same dream kept coming back;
i never got any closer to you.

finally i realized it wasnt a dream at all
and i had been alone the whole time
i cried myself to sleep and hoped
i would never wake up again.
