[For Samara]

Jun 27, 2008 20:07

It had been difficult for Klaus to put a finger on his feelings about Voldemort's death. There was a great deal of relief, and a frustrating sense of helplessness regarding Samara's part in it. Beyond everything, however, there was a distinct finality to it, the closing of a chapter that Klaus had not quite been aware was open in the first place. A story ended in an unexpected but ultimately satisfying way. For the first time in a very long time he felt truly relaxed, and while it wasn't quite the death of Count Olaf, it carried closure with it regardless.

Just now, Klaus was returning from one of his many visits to the Council office, having dropped off the initial plans for a settlement wide waterworks that he had been drafting for several months. His goal was for everyone to have indoor plumbing like they enjoyed at the treehouse, and eventually electricity, too. The way the spring began in the mountain was perfect, he thought -- They might not even need to build a watermill.
