Setting: Season 6, post-Hell's Bells.
Note: This drabble is a prequel to my series, Celeste the Vampire Slayer, a S6-originating-AU about Xander as a Watcher, and his Slayer.
In Xander’s mind, there’d always been stuff nobody was ever going to find out.
That he still had a teddy-bear at seventeen. That the whole ex-vengeance-demon-thing had never stopped scaring him. And then there was that big disturbing thing, where he’d kinda wanted, despite tweedy disadvantages, since high school, to be a Watcher.
But saying to Giles, jokingly, ‘hey, the Council wouldn’t dislike you half as much if they knew they’d almost had me applying’ didn’t count as telling.
Just in case, though, he didn’t look at Giles when he said it, so he wouldn’t have to see him laugh.
