The sun was starting to rise, painting the horizon with pink and gold. "That is beautiful." Buffy said to herself. "It should make me feel happy. I should be happy that Willow brought me back. I should be grateful. I should feel something". She kept walking. "I should go home and make breakfast for Dawn." But she didn't turn around, continuing to trudge along numbly until she reached Spike's crypt and kicked open the door.

"Kiss me Spike!" she demanded. "Or hit me. Hurt me! Make me feel something. Please. Make me feel like I'm alive again." she begged him.
