Summary: Buffy gets some perspective after her mother dies.
[She stared down at the grave, feeling the numbness begin to fade...]She stared down at the grave, feeling the numbness begin to fade. In the end, it hadn’t been a nasty that killed her. None of Buffy’s constant nightmares had come to light. Instead, it was something new, something she had avoided because she could not defeat it. Buffy couldn’t save her.
Familiar guilt washed over her; however, it disappeared just as quickly as it began, replaced by the fortitude learned from years of training. Giles’ words echoed in her mind as she finally turned from her mother’s grave. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
She had work to do.
