Cordelia Chase had long ago grown accustomed to life being unfair. Losing her cool, having the Slayer threaten her place in the high school that was her territory, losing her boyfriend to a geek, actually dating that loser in the first place, losing her money, her fame, being unrecognized in LA . . .

Life was so utterly unfair, even to a Princess who deserved infinitely better. She smiled, thinking of Doyle calling her Princess. He had recognized the role she deserved, and yet, there was no one she knew who had had life been more unfair to them. She batted away tears.

He was one of many on her mind as she took her final steps to destiny. He was one she still wished she could have saved. Perhaps, if she had had the powers she was about to receive, she could have. She could have helped him and so many more.

She could help Angel. Now there was a hero she loved very much to whom life continued to be unfair. White light bathed her. It was funny, but being a Higher Power didn't feel much different. It didn't feel how she'd thought it would, but then life was still unfair.

The End
