Voices startled her out of her sulk. Perplexed at the ongoing conversation, Claudia glanced around the bookshelf to the study area below her...
"...one lousy sucker," the dark-haired guy finished. "I had it, but nooo. You had to steal it."
The girls exchanged looks, obviously smothering laughter. "Uh... sorry?" the blonde said.
"You never let me win," he grumbled - and that set the girls off.
Great. Role-playing losers. Claudia had real problems: her parents were splitting up, her boyfriend had vanished, her grades were slipping; all she'd wanted was some silence in the deserted library. Couldn't these guys understand priorities?
