She looked down from Heaven upon her friends and cried as she saw her love holding another woman. She remembered the Slayer smirking once when Principal Snyder had remarked about being able to make something even out of moldy bread and had looked directly at her and Xander. She'd made something of herself, although it'd been nowhere close to the actress she'd once thought she wanted to be. She had given her life to save the world, and her repayment was that Buffy should get her Angel. Cordelia turned away, wings fluttering and tears falling, and into Doyle's waiting arms.

"Well, well, what do ya now? The boy's got fangs." Spike smirked but still didn't release Giles. "If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can even give the Zeppo balls."

Xander glowered and pouted. "Can we kill him now?" Faith asked of the former Watcher.

"Not quite yet."

"Yeah, like you're in any position to do anything, old man." It was then Giles surprised him, kicking both feet into his abdomen so hard he not only knocked Spike off of him but sent him sailing. The blonde Vampire saw the fledglings' smirks as he passed over Xander and Faith.

drabble for the A Dollop of Crimson drabble series you good readers have twisted my arm to try to write.

And, last but certainly not least (My beloved Drew and I are rewatching the series, and I am soooo getting hooked on these two!), and at the risk of getting into trouble because it's actually a double drabble . . .

Title: "No Moldy Bread"

Her lips quirked into a smile as she read the words with which the author finished. She knew the quote well and had once heard it ascribed to her husband. She looked over to where he slept, peacefully unaware of the thoughts and memories racing through her mind. The others could call him what they wanted, think of him as they would, but she knew the truth. Her Xander was no Zeppo and certainly no moldy bread.

He'd always been there for them, risking life, limb, and soul and eventually losing his eye. He had saved her even more times than Buffy. It had all started with his generosity and a simple crayon, but he had been her friend when she'd had no one else. The world -- her world, especially -- existed because he had reached her when nothing and no one else could. He'd found a way to make a light shine inside of her when all had been pitch black. Willow shut her book, placed it aside, leaned over, kissed his temple, and snuggled in around him. He might be moldy bread to some, a Zeppo to most of the world, but to her, he'd always be her hero.
