Her mother hoped she’d become a doctor. Her father was looking forward to being the first female President’s dad.
Her lifelong zeal for fairness might’ve led her into law. Her athleticism might’ve taken her to the Olympics, the police, or the military.
She might’ve found a husband, become somebody’s mother, somebody’s grandmother - first of a long line of somebodies.
Instead the Watchers came for her and she became a Slayer. Now she’ll be 14 forever, just the last in a long line of dead girls.
