The voices were a constant drone. Always chattering, condemning, telling him to go to hell. Sometimes, he could almost block them out. Then, one would cry louder and soon they would all be screaming at him, making his head pound. Making his mind twist and scream.
In that tiny space of time when they were almost quiet, Dru would speak to him. Call him her dark prince. Tell him of love and sacrifice, broken promises, plots and betrayal. Where his destiny lay. With the sun.
Peace would come over him and he would sleep. Between the shadows and his soul.
