Looking about the squalid room of strung out junkies lying on the floor, unconscious after yet another night of debauched conjuring, he tried to make sense of what happened. Broken images flashed through his mind like a strobe light in a dance club.
Stumbling into the kitchen, he poured himself a stiff drink to beat back the pounding in his head. He was disgusted with himself and resolved to clear out before he fell further from grace.
“Afternoon, Ripper.” Ethan snatched the glass from him and took a sip. “Raising Eyghon tonight?”
Magic’s siren song lured him again. “Yeah, alright.”
