They crept towards the crypt, their approach covered by the raucous party within. Xander had discovered this vamp hideaway during an unwise solo patrol, but had the sense to get back-up. They could fill in for Buffy, but they could never replace her. No superpowers, just a group of friends staving off the tide of demons until their hero returned.
Xander addressed the group. “We draw them out, stake them one by one as they exit.” All nodded, except Cordelia, who hissed, “Great plan, genius, except there’s fifty of them. They’ll trample us!”
A return glare. “I’m open to suggestions.”
