Xander catches Buffy after last bell. "Cordy's got cheerleading, and Will's got some kind of computer lab thing. There's something I want to say to you."
"That sounds pretty serious."
"As a heart attack. It's time you knew." He takes her out into the courtyard. "Scott Hope is a complete idiot."
"Xander."
"It needs to be said."
She gives him a wobbly smile. "Look, I wasn't the most available person. I've been kind of a mess."
"I would've settled for that. Happily."
"Xander, I --"
"Don't worry. Water under the bridge. Just -- well -- say the word, Buffy, and I'll punch him."
