We learned long ago how to prevent his soul from escaping.
Make him miserable.
So, just as he's becoming happy, just as he's falling in love with the Slayer, I make him miserable.
It's not hard. In the end he's just a man, governed by what's between his legs. As I slide him inside and begin to ride, I feel regret.
Giles will never be mine.
Buffy comes first, after all, and I'm destroying her lover.
Angel will keep his soul, but she'll never see him the same way, and he'll always be just miserable enough.
