"I like her," says the small woman, perkiness belying her Goth clothing. "She's tough."

A DIFFICULT NUT TO CRACK, her companion says/does-not-say.

"She's just a little stubborn."

STUBBORN IS NOT THE WORD. BLOODY PIGHEADED WOULD BE MORE LIKE IT.

"Hey, Buffy never says die. Or not for long." Goth swings her legs. "Gotta admire that."

The last of their unmerry three gazes down at his plate of Muenster. "Perhaps I should have used Limburger...?"

Goth pats his shoulder. "Don't worry. Third time's the charm. We'll toss for who goes next."

Death, DEATH, and 'death' shake hands to seal the pact.
