real update

Alright kiddies,
So when we last left off in the life of Shannon I was full force in the midst of some craziness. It is safe to say that things have calmed down now. I had my last class of Maymester yesterday - and my grade is already up ... drum roll please ... "A!" I didn't doubt it. I don't get why people are so freaked out about Maymesters. The see that's it's only three weeks and get all stressed about the reading or workload and what not but they don't seem to think about the fact that the teachers don't really want to do all that much either. I took one mid-term and got 100 on that. Turned in a 6 page paper and got 100 on that. Then turned in a 9 page paper which I haven't gotten a grade back on that yet but yesterday she said the lowest grade was a 95. And then we were supposed to have one more paper, she decided we didn't need to turn that one in, just the hours for our field experience which was what the paper was about. And then she said that if we wanted to just have our mid-term grade count double for our final we could do that. So needless to say I didn't take the final today. I get tomorrow off before the next session for June-July starts on Thursday.

Tomorrow I'm going kayaking down the river - a nice relaxing trip down the river. I've never been but I am oh so excited. I'm taking the camera because Richard with all his camping gear has a great waterproof bag. Richard and I are going with his friend Liz and her (I think) boyfriend.

I've settled in my summer sublease for the next month - I haven't really unpacked anything or put any pictures back up on my wall because I don't really see the point. Just to take everything back down ... and I don't want to unpack the boxes of like kitchen stuff - the roommates here have enough dishes and things so I just have most of my boxes stacked up in the back of my closet behind my clothes. That's all I really need right now - a place to sleep (my bed), a place to shower, and somewhere to put my computer.

Finished principal filming on the Zombie movie - now Patrick is left to his own devices in the editing room. I can't wait so see how everything turns out. We had another little mini wrap party and watched a bunch of the behind the scenes footage and it was awesome. The final count on my picture taking - 692 pictures over the three weeks ... and then the party and one final shooting day ... I'm probably around 750 pictures on this one project. I swear I take way too many pictures.

I can't wait to see what happens with this movie. The plan is Sundance ... and the entire crew has decided if it makes it we are all going to take a break and get a giant hotel room and all crash out in Utah. That would be so awesome! I'm really excited about this movie and the prospect of all the things that can and will come out of it. I'll definitely keep you guys posted.

Yesterday I actually drove a London theatre director out to Crawfordville (where we shot most of the zombie stuff) because he wanted to see circa 1940s rural Georgia farm houses for a stage design for a play, Carson McCuller's "Member of the Wedding," they are putting on in September at the Young Vic theatre (www.youngvic.org). Matt is like a friend of a friend of Andy's and Andy actually started Fire School yesterday which is why he asked me to drive Matt out there. He was a really interesting guy. I didn't mind the drive at all because he was good at holding a conversation with me.

Other than that - still working on some teen:screen stuff ... they are in their final stages of editing. Their movies will screen during AthFest on June 23rd. It will be a lot of fun. Still working on REM stuff at the studio - just a bunch of archive stuff. 1983 to 1997 is pretty much done ... now to begin the 1997 to 2007 section.

I think that's the basis of my update - I'm just glad that I finally got the chance to write ... oh and I finally started running again today. I kind of accidentally quit running while I was shooting the movie so it's been like a month and I ran some hills in my new apartment complex this morning and it kicked my butt. I've got to get back into shape. It's sad. I still generally only eat like one meal a day so it's not like I'm ingesting too much ... I think my body just really likes sweating and working out. So hopefully I'll get up and run tomorrow morning and then we leave to kayak at like noon ... I'll get an awesome workout and some sun at the same time. Fabulous!
