Email I wrote to my Aunt Mary - I was pretty much telling her the latest developments in my life so instead of writing a whole separate journal entry about it I decided to just paste it here too - makes my life easier. Don't mind some of the "person specific" stuff like talking about her wedding photos ... I just don't feel like going through and editing stuff out. Anyway - I hope everyone is doing alright with finals and just think ... there's a break right around the corner. It's coming so soon I'm excited.

Hey,
So I know you and Phil left like yesterday for your cruise so it's going to be a little while before you even get this email but I'm at work and it's the middle of the night and I have plenty of free time now that my finals are over.

I really only had one final for my Art History class - my other classes all required 'final' projects that were due before finals week. Which I guess is nice for me now but there was a point in time about a week and a half ago that I was running around like a crazy person and everyone else was just fine going to their classes for the last few times.

I ended up writing a 48 page sitcom script for my Writing class. My partner Kirk and I created this beautiful 8 minute 'video essay' of a girl in my acting class who is also a ballet dancer. We gave her a piece of music and edited together this great video. The whole premise was a kind of "final dress rehearsal" deal - she was in a darkened studio by herself just practicing kind of thing. Kirk and I were both really pleased with how it turned out. And for my Acting class me and a partner had to perform a final scene, and Kenny (the teacher) broke us up into groups because there was no way the whole class could all go in one day so my partner and I went last Thursday and this Thursday (our normally scheduled final exam time) is when the rest of the class is going. So I have a final to 'attend' but I don't have to do anything ... I can sit there and watch other people act.

I didn't have a final for my ballet class and the only other course I'm taking this semester was my Art History class. So today I have my final test in that class - it wasn't cumulative for the slide identification (which was good and made it just as easy as the other two test we had this semester) but then we had one final cumulative essay. That wasn't so bad because she gave us three options ahead of time to prepare, work out some notes for, and today we found out which one we would have to write one. I guess it was just my day too because she picked the essay that I had the best notes on and could remember a bunch of minute facts about the artwork.

So I think all in all everything is well. Classes are done, I'm done for the semester. I'm gonna do a little online shopping now for xmas presents. I've got most of my friends taken care of - I'm picking up the rest of it tomorrow and all that's left is to order some stuff for mom and a extra present or two for Heather. Dad is just impossible to buy for - I ask him what he wants and he just rambles on about how he needs new work shirts and he'll see if Mom will get them for him - which really means he picks them out, buys them, and generally wraps them for himself and still pretends to be surprised when he opens them on Christmas day. But I generally tend to find something he'll like and hadn't thought of that I can surprise him with.

Oh by the way, since I finally had some time I went back to the email you sent a while ago with the link to the wedding photographers website to try and look at his pictures. Well I think since you've now ordered from him he's taken your link down because I didn't see anything with your name by it. So I guess I only get to see the good photos you decided to get.

And Mom called me Sunday and told me about the "Graduation Cruise" I guess is what we can call it. I'm excited already. It's going to be so much fun! Richard says that I need to go scuba diving while we're in the bahamas.

I leave for home for the break Friday morning - I've got the weekend to decorate and finish shopping and then Monday I start work at the restaurant to try and make some quick cash while I'm home. I've got to save most of it because I think the roommates and I are going to try and to somewhere nice/fancy for Spring Break this year ... we've been bouncing around with the idea of going to Vegas. We'll see if that works or not.

Things are coming to an end around here - it's weird to think that I've only got one more semester left and then I graduate. While I was home for Thanksgiving, mom and I went and bought me some "interview" attire. I've now got two skirt suits to where for the job hunting. I'm already getting emails from the school reminding me of dates for when I have to order my cap and gown and announcements and all. It's kinda overwhelming at some points ... it makes me want to wish I was still 18 and didn't have to think about it for a few more years.

So I guess my next biggest step is to find a job for after graduation. I'd love to have one set up before May - we'll see how that goes - but I have my apartment leased here in Athens until August so I really need to have something figured out by then.

I talked to one of my roommates from last year, Erin C, the one who came to your place for Spring Break last year, and she's graduating with me next semester (most of my current roommates are going to stay and extra semester and graduate at the end of fall next year). But anyway I talked to Erin and I know she's planning on looking for a job near/in Atlanta (which is where her family is) and I know there's a lot of opportunities for jobs I wouldn't mind doing in Atlanta (Turner/CNN type stuff) so she and I talked and have decided that if I were to be able to get a job in Atlanta the she and I would get an apartment together. That way it's cheaper than trying to live on our own and we know each other already and it'll just be nice to start a new chapter of our lives and still have part of the old chapter still around - get what I mean. So it's kinda nice to know that if plans work the way I hope I've got one thing already checked off of my list.

I'm really rambling now so I guess I'll put an end to my email. I hope you had a great trip and I'll talk to you again soon.

Love,
Shannon
