Live from Room 119 of Lycée Pierre Bayle in beautiful Sedan, France...

I'm supposed to be teaching right now (or at least, in charge of a small class), but they didn't show. Not sure what's up with that, but I didn't see their teacher in the salle des profs when she's usually there, which means she's probably sick. And since my class just *happens* to be in a computer lab, I will take this opportunity to update, as I have not done in several months.

It certainly hasn't been for lack of spare time that I haven't written. About ninety percent of my time here has been "spare" (the rest being a spurious estimate); I just haven't seemed to have the motivation or the energy to write. I was going to write to or call lots of people that I never did. I'm really bad at stuff like that.

So, I shouldn't really be so thrilled when a class stands me up. I've gotten good at feigning annoyance over it, but frankly, an hour I don't have to teach when I thought I would is like having a stay on my execution. Even with a well-thought-out lesson plan I get really nervous when confronted with my class, and today wasn't even one of those days when I had such a plan. What I had planned was, however, better than what I ended up doing this time last week (with the group following this hour, in the same room), so I'm not too stressed.

I only have two weeks of teaching left. I feel like I ought to be sorry to see it end, or that I should feel like I'll miss Sedan; actually, all I feel is a vague regret that I'll have to leave France and go back to Ashville. I'm not even sure what I'll have to do there once I get back, since I haven't heard of any job openings at Cummins yet.

Okay, that's all for now, I need to finish up before my class arrives.
