oh wise flist...

Many many thanks for your kindle thoughts! I'm still on the fence. I feel it's more environmentally friendly not to print all the ridiculous books I have to read, and it would let me read all the PDFs I have to download more comfortably. By the end of the day, laptop has usually fried my vision and I don't think kindle (or another e-ink reader) would have quite the same effect.

Downsides are that it is yet another thing I would own, and have to take places and I am apprehensive of change. I might break it, drop it, ruin it and then lose access to many things instead of spilling coffee on one book.

Still debating. I have looked into Barnes and Noble's site, and since I'm in the UK, it's less comprehensive for the things I need. I also very rarely have time or the inclination for novels, so I don't think the pricing of novels would be an issue. I'm going to waffle for awhile. I love waffles...

Anyway, time for boots! (much more important than electronic things)

I got a pair of bespoke shoes and they are the loveliest thing I have ever put on my feet. I'm getting boots. I may never go back to store-shoes. (except Birkenstocks, I adore those and they make my feet happy)

I'm pretty much sold on wine-coloured leather. I'm an autumn and I think it would match most things, yet not be dull like brown or black.

These have cool straps and would work well with jeans.

These have a strap and laces and a work-boot feel that I like. (heels and I are not friends)

These are probably the least practical, the most gorgeous and of course, I like them best. There's a cute little leaf on the calf you can't see in the picture. I think they'd be much harder to wear with any jeans but skinny ones, but...so pretty.

In real life news, my supervisor is leaving and my second supervisor (who's brand new, fresh from research, really intelligent 29-year old Australian genius lady) is going to be my first. She's awesome, so hey, good news!
