I'm putting these together because my answer for 6 ran into 7 and I find 5 a silly question.
5 -If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
6 - When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?
7 - Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?
5 - I don't feel anyone's ever pushed their way into a fic. My fics are mine and the characters do as they please. I am the Old Gods. ;)
6 - I write women more, mostly because I see women as underwritten in both the source material and the fandoms that arise from them. I have a soft spot for those I feel are getting less attention than they warrant. Sometimes I'm quite libra.
(To be fair, I do focus on caucasian women who are often in positions of privilege, so I'm not a campaigner for true fannish equality. )
I like women, I adore them, I could just link to
sophia_gratia's brilliant post on the matter of femmeslash here. I write women more because the stories I tell have more to do with women. It's not that I dislike men, or don't write about them, it's that women speak to me more.
When I write het, I prefer being in the man's pov during sex scenes because I like writing the aspects of foreplay with the female body. Most of what I've written recently has been femmeslash, and that's all women, all of the time. I have, as
parcequelle so brilliantly put it, a number of useful men, but often in my fics they're the supporting cast. I am entirely comfortable with this.
I'm suffering from the great fannish temptation of a het pairing lately, so I'll have more male POV there. I still anticipate writing about women more.
7 - Writing Chakotay made me like him more than I did during the show. I liked him, but I never really connected with him until I started writing him and realised what I could love about him. It's not the same things other people do, I concentrate on what makes him a brilliant supporting force. His patience and emotional understanding.
My feelings for Jean-Luc Picard deepened when I wrote him too. His poetic leadership, his depth, the way he seems like a little cat who'd curl up and observe and always come purr when you were upset. I respected him on the show, once I wrote him, I adored him.
I fall in love with women for their faces, their voices and the way things appear in their eyes. When I love female characters, I love them instantly and writing (especially that of other people) deepens my understanding. Very rarely does the source material make me connect with a male character. It's really rare that a man is my favourite or someone I pay much attention to.
Usually I find a woman fascinating and through her I start to like the men around her. It's rare indeed that I initially now the man for his own merits. (Han Solo, Ned Stark, Fox Mulder and any of the men of Battlestar Galactica. BSG is a rare and brilliant show).

3 - For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?

16 - Summaries - Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

19 - When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?
20 - Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?
21 - Sequels - Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
22 - Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
23 - When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?
24 - Betaing - How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
25 - Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
26 - What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?
27 - Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?
28 - Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?
29 - What is your current project or projects?
30 - Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
