Today I started my first "Smash Book". I just needed to do something creative so I took my supplies to bed and got started. Eventually I got enough get and go to move to my art table where I finished the layout.

Once I finished with that, I felt good enough to keep going. I worked a little bit in one journal then in another. Before you know it two hours had gone by. I was exhausted by then too. I'm tired now but not as bad as I thought I'd be. Enough to not make much sense.

I did enjoy the way things flower from one thing to another. All I did in one journal was paste some parchment paper on a portion of it. Not much there but I did also have to figure out that's what I wanted to do.

The third journal I worked on, I had to really tone down the background. Then I had to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with the whole thing. I decided on some ephemera and pasted it on. That was all I could do today. I have to wait for everything to dry.

It's frustrating but it at least teaches you patience. It's also why I work in multiple journals. Unfortunately because I don't have gesso I couldn't work on the pages I really wanted to. Hopefully I can go to the store on Sunday.

I was going to try using watered down white paint instead of watered down gesso. But I was going to use the gesso as a ground on glossy paper. Instead I pasted the parchment paper over the area. All the techniques give off a muted effect. Same end different means.

I'm not sure I would have thought about doing that if my gesso hadn't hardened to a rock-like substance. Maybe I should run out of supplies more often!!
