i sit here, listen to sad, nostalgic songs, and think of rain.
i sit here and think about where the people i love are sitting. are their faces illuminated by the glow of a computer screen, as mine is now? are they watching tv, are they in the arms of someone who cares, or are they alone in the dark? i think on all of you and where you are and what your face looks like. your face is beautiful and i know the arch of your brow, the curve of your jaw, and the softness of your hair. i have seen the depths of the colors in your eyes and i recall the size and shape of your hands.
we are the music while the music lasts. do you know where we may have gone together? if you stick with me, you will have nothing to regret. i'll take you by the hand through the wet grass, in moonlit paths and sweeping trees. i'll keep you warm if you keep me safe. sit here and watch the red sky burn out to black, fireflies glitter in the dark shape of the wood, and stars show themselves at last. be humbled by the natural beauty that surrounds you and think how small we are. remember we are not alone, but understand how far we have come. how far we have to go. and how far do we go in this life?
and in this grass beside these trees, carefully cradled in this space -- look how the light plays on us. look at how beautiful we are, in this one moment where all we ever know is now. look at how i can love you. i may not know your mind, but i absolutely know your heart. i will beat myself into you... push myself into you... to make those muscles move... we are meant to be here now...
now, this rain.
