I have 2 free 3 month "gift memberships" to Audible.com and I decided that rather than choose who to give them to, I'd do an online drawing. This is run by software that will choose a winner from a list of all the entries--I don't handle any of it. I decided to run it as an automatic drawing so I wouldn't have to decide who gets them.
At the end of the 3 months this membership does NOT revert to paid. They will NOT ask you for your credit card to sign up. You get 1 free audiobook per month during the gift membership. Sign up here:

I just have been a member for a long time and they emailed me saying "here are some free gift memberships--give them to your friends" and this seemed the fairest and possibly most fun way to do it.
I have been a paying member of Audible.com since 11/28/2001 and I have gotten so much benefit from it. I listen to audio books on my work commute, for example, and it makes the time zip by. If you do decide to pay for a membership after your 3 months are up, they have different plans available that get you different amounts of "credits" (most audio books cost 1 credit). There are four plans: 1 credit/month or 2 credits/month or 12 credits all at once or 24 credits all at once. The prices are reasonable, IMO. Anyway, as I said, the gift memberships are for 3 months, they swear they will NOT ask for your credit card and will NOT turn your account into a paid account at the end. They will probably send you an email at the end asking if you want to become a member, but that's it. So if you want to try it out, enter the drawing here:
