2 housekeeping notes: grocery shopping, housecleaning

1) One of the two local SuperFresh supermarkets has discontinued 5-pound sacks of whole-wheat flour. They carry only the 1-pound sacks of King Arthur flour: no other sizes, no other brands or generics. I think it's a conspiracy. They tracked my purchases through my savings card, and after I quit buying bread and started buying flour, they figured out that yours truly was trying desperately to save money.

I can get whole-wheat flour in bulk from Whole Foods or Essene, the hippie-dippie natural foods store on 4th Street, of course. But I like the standard 5-pound paper sacks better. I mean, I liked buying pre-made, pre-sliced bread, too, and I adjusted. But still.

2) I never actually did my end-of-summer clean-up on my little deck in fall, 2009. Every weekend once summer broke, either it was raining or I was out of town. So I never got around to cleaning up the "garden," sweeping up the summer dust, and washing the chairs and setting them up. Then winter arrived and it got too cold. But this weekend, ah, this weekend. It will be warm. It will be sunny. It will be dry. It will have been warm, sunny, and dry for a few days prior to the weekend, too. I won't be sweeping mud and I won't be freezing myself as I work. I have absolutely no excuse to not clean up the deck this weekend.

Rats.
