If I'm officially to late for the weekly challenge, just let me know.
Title: Respect a Lady
Challenge: Success
Character/s: Sanji and Nami mostly
Song: Tough Guys
Artist: REO Speedwagon

Warnings: Some relatively mild violence, mostly one-sided SaNa
Disclaimers: Song lyrics written by Kevin Cronin. The characters, as much as I love them, belong to Eiichiro Oda. (He probably loves them even more!)
Dedication: I never write SaNa, and since her birthday's coming up and she loves it so, this piece is for
dandywonderous.
She doesn't like the tough guys
They think that they can do anything they please
But they're gonna get a surprise
When she brings them to their knees
Sanji had honestly lost track of the number of times enemies had tried to make off with Nami.
He completely understood being attracted to the beautiful, intelligent, and highly skilled navigator, but he also knew that trying to use force was never going to get anyone anywhere with the fiery red head.
He winced as one opponent was felled by the Thunderbolt Tempo moments before another was taken out with a far more direct blow from the Perfect Clima-Tact to a very sensitive area of the male anatomy. He almost felt bad for these guys, but they'd insulted a lady, so they really deserved everything they got!
'Cause she doesn't like the rough guys
They think that they can have any girl they choose
They've got tricks but my baby's got wise
"I'm surprised you're not over there," Zoro observed as he came to stand next to the cook.
"I wouldn't insult Nami-swan by assuming that she always needs help in a fight!"
"Uh huh." Zoro looked pointedly over at a groaning pile of men that had presumably been waylaid on their way toward Nami's current fight.
"She actually took those ones out herself, too," Sanji corrected the assumption. "They were trying to surround her earlier, but she saw what they were up to right away! I almost got caught in the crossfire myself as I was arriving."
So find someone your own size
'Cause she's not afraid of you
"Think she knows about those ones?" Zoro asked, pointing out a group of reinforcements on the approach.
"Of course, there's really nothing wrong with being helpful." Sanji put out his cigarette and started over to join Nami. He paused at the sound of a large explosion from the direction of the last location of the rest of the crew.
"You got this?"
"Don't insult me, either," Sanji scoffed.
"See you around, cook!" Zoro called over his shoulder as he disappeared hopefully toward the main fight, but knowing him, it might be a while before he got there.
Nami was looking a bit worn out, now that Sanji got a closer look, but she faced the approaching group head on, her expression defiant.
She doesn't like the tough guys
She thinks that they've got brains all where they sit
They think they're full of fire
She thinks they're full of shit
As much as he loved the romanticism of rescuing a damsel in distress, he'd be a bit of a hypocrite if he just jumped in front of her.
"Would you care for some assistance, Nami-san?" he asked instead.
"Sanji-kun!" Truly, her smile was one of the most beautiful things in all the Blues! "Am I glad to see you!"
"So that's how you're gonna play this, girlie?" One of the men sneered over at her as he wiped a trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth. "Gonna go and hide behind your friend?" He was one to talk! He'd moved back to stand behind a row of the reinforcements.
"On second thought, Sanji-kun, these guys are mine!" Her expression had darkened in anger, and Sanji obligingly backed off. "Mirage Tempo: Fata Morgana!"
You might as well forget her
A few minutes later they were all down for the count.
"You guys should learn some manners, if you want to impress a girl!" She walked over the top of the closest man, making sure to dig in her heels, as she headed for Sanji.
"Thanks for letting me take care of that on my own. It was sweet." She gave him a peck on the cheek and he all but swooned. "Now, let's go make sure the others haven't gotten themselves into too much trouble. Robin can only handle so much, even with those extra hands!"
"Hai, Nami-swan!" It was definitely immature, but he couldn't help turning to stick his tongue out at the defeated pirates. Nami was back right where she belonged.
Ooh, you know, you know she loves me better
