School House Rocks

School started yesterday at East Grand Rapids. After weeks of meetings, introductions, and tons of pressure from the administration, I was ready to get back into the classroom and actually do my job. Well, I thought I was pretty well prepared. Little did I know...

Basically the day went well, all things considered, I am just in a little bit of a cloud. The advanced kids know a lot and I'm not sure what to do with them just yet. First I have to figure out what they know, then after that I can figure out a curriculum for them. Until then I feel clueless. This kinda zapped my confidence a little bit, and it required opening up a new bottle of wine ;)

Today went better however, I had a plan, stuck to it, actually taught instead of introducing myself the whole day, and my voice finally recovered from loosing it the first day. I'm figuring out what the advanced kids know and am a little more confident that I can provide some amount of education for them (thank god cuz, it's my job).

I guess I didn't realize how much I'd learn by coming here. I thought I knew enough to get me by, but I didn't realize that this wasn't enough. I'm really going to have to challenge myself to greater heights of knowledge and instruction in order to even keep my head above the water. It'll all work out, in the meantime, I gots lots of work to do. So bye

oh, and sweeing's how work began, and not many people I know update their LJs anymore, I prolly wont check up on the LJ too much. So have fun kids, good luck and god bless
