-Ringling Bros/Barnum & Bailey, Is the circus dying?

Practiced more with my airbrush since my last post. I attempted at another skull. The skull turned out a lot better than my first, well you'd certainly would hope so. I tried a breaking glass effect. For my first attempt it's not bad, although another aspect that needs practice. Though it did turn out better than my first, I still liked my sketch better than the finished result. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised about that. Considering I've been sketching for how long now compared to my novice airbrushing. I'll keep at it. If you'd like to see my latest skull click HERE.

I think I'll probably practice somemore with real fire again. I watched a tutorial and it was made so much clearer for me. I think I'll have an easier time.

Then Friday night I decided to tackle a picture that I started with markers last year but I had never finished. I have to say I absolutely love it. It's probably the first in a long time that I've been considerably pleased with. I started it with marker and I finished it with airbrush. I love the combination. It gives such a smooth finish. The colors are just awesome! Here skin is one hundered percent airbrush!! I'm so excited! I am just so shocked with myself that I was able to get her tones successfully. I am very content with myself. I am just so very pleased with the final result I have decided to sell 8 x 10 matte or gloss prints for $5. Please help a starving artist out and buy some prints! If it does well I'll try to see if I can get bigger scale prints. If you're interested you can contact me at latentookami@yahoo.com. I'll be taking payment through paypal. Don't worry, the watermark won't be on the print!

The boys and I went and saw the Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey show Saturday afternoon. I have to say I was a little disappointed. It just wasn't what I expected. The only exotic animals they had were the elephants. The elephants were amazing though, in all their glory. I guess I was half expecting the tigers and lions. I remember when Dad took us when we were young that they had everything! The big cats and all. It had so much going on you didn't know where to look! That was a circus. I don't know if this is just a little show they send to the smaller cities or if they really had to cut back. Mom was telling me that before I went that when the lion tamer died some years back it really hit them hard. I can definitely see that. She said something about her son doing it now. They must have some larger show touring in larger cities. The whole purpose was to take my son for him to enjoy himself. For a two year old I guess he was as entertained as he was going to get for what they done. Don't get me wrong they had some good parts here and there. Pete did notice though only a couple of guys that seemed to belong to the 'original' circus crew. I try to look for the good in things but it seems like the circus is dying off.

I haven't worked on my father's website. My mom told me that my father quit the studio! I'm a little shocked about it. So until he figures out what he's going to do and what he wants to be done with the website it'll probably be left on hold for a little bit.
