Spend the weekend at the Melbourne Anime Festival (Manifest) and was up for 36 1/2 hours straight due to not being able to get some more sleep before the "Midnight Madness"part of the convention. I got to teach some more people on how to play L5R and did this with a three player game that went for about 3 hours. I thought that by doing it this way, they would get a better idea of what can happen in a game, and it seems to have worked with two of them picking up some starters on the Sunday.
It is events like this that remind me that I am part of a bigger community, this one being the Anime fan community, and I am glad to be part of it. We are united in the love of a genre, and yet we may not like exactly the same anime, but revel in our geekness anyway. :P
The downside to any convention is the after effects of it. The buzz from the energy goes and all you are left with are the memories of a great time and the wondering of why it ends.
What Manifest has inspired for me is to find some characters that I like and try to cosplay them. So far I think that Ozma Lee from Macross Frontier and Colonel Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist are two of the characters. I want a few of them so that I don't always turn up as the same character to each con, and considering there is a least 3 semi-major anime cons, and then Supernova, Armageddon and Gen Con, I think I may need to have at least 4 up my sleeve. Ah well, I guess I can work on it.
For the next few weeks, I guess finding Darker than Black volumes 2 to 4, and getting my hands on the model for Ozma's VF-25 Valkyrie are my goals, well other than the move, which almost got scuttled the other day, but it didn't.
